The Tyrannosaurus rex, which is also known as the T-Rex, was a species of large theropod dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period about 68 to 66 million years ago. T. rex had one of the most powerful bites of any land animal, exerting up to 12,800 pounds of force. Its teeth, which could grow up to 12 inches (30 centimeters) long, were serrated and ideal for crushing bone.
